Persons who have already been awarded a doctorate degree will not be allowed to submit another dissertation. For that reason it will not be possible to apply for a PhD program at Leiden Law School.
When completing this application form, you will be asked to upload various documents. Please be sure you have scans or electronic versions of these documents available on your computer before you start completing this form.
The documents you will have to upload are
: CV, copy of a photopage of your passport and the expiry date, scanned copies of your diplomas and grade lists, a brief outline of your proposed PhD research (max. upload 1500 KB per document).
Please note that in some departments of Leiden Law School you will have to pay a fee to become a PhD candidate.
Please note that for people starting their PhD research at Leiden Law School after 1 September 2008, this form replaces appendix 1 and appendix 2 mentioned in articles 4 and 6 of the Leiden
University PhD Regulations
in force since that date.
When this form has been completed, the Graduate School will first see if all formal requirements are fullfilled. The supervisor(s) will also be asked if they are satisfied with the quantity and the quality of the substantive research texts. The aim is that you will hear from Leiden Law School within 2 months.
